As India and the European Union finalised a massive trade agreement of unprecedented scale, the United States’ top trade official has said the deal appears to tilt in New Delhi’s favour by opening wider access to the European market.

US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, in an interview with Fox Business, said India would “come out on top” of the agreement and predicted that New Delhi was “going to have a heyday” once the deal is implemented.

"I've looked at some of the details of the deal so far. I think India comes out on top on this, frankly. They get more market access into Europe," Greer said, adding,

"It sounds like they have some additional immigration rights. I don't know for sure, but President von der Leyen of the EU has talked about mobility for Indian workers into Europe. So I think on net, India is going to have a heyday with this," the US official observed.
