Vivo OriginOS version has been available with Chinese variants for many years but now we could finally see it running on the Indian models.

OriginOS is finally coming to India with Vivo and iQOO phones
Vivo has officially confirmed that it is changing the software version for its devices along with iQOO phones in India. OriginOS, which has been available on Chinese variants of Vivo and iQOO phones, will soon be coming to the Indian models as well.
Both Vivo and iQOO use Funtouch OS version for the Indian variants but that is likely to be changing with the new iQOO 15 and Vivo X300 series in the market later this year. We had first heard rumours about OriginOS skin coming to India back in July and now both the brands have made it official.
The Big Change
Vivo V60 was reportedly going to be the first device to launch in India with OriginOS but now it seems the brand is holding its software cards close to the chest for the premium flagship models.
The OriginOS available in China does not have Google Play Store or any other Google services, which Vivo will have to integrate if the OS releases in India. We have previously asked Vivo about its plans to replace Funtouch OS with OriginOS in India and most times the brand has talked about studying the feasibility of making it happen without ever giving us a clear timeline.
We have experienced the OriginOS version on Vivo devices previously and always found it to be much smoother and polished than the Funtouch OS skin.
The overall experience of using Vivo hardware has been good, but software has continued to be lacking finesse, especially for the premium X-series devices. This is most likely going to change with the upcoming X300 models as well as the iQOO 15 smartphone.
What About Old Phones?
The news about OriginOS launching in India has obviously brought another important question to the fore. Will the older models also get upgraded to the new skin or will they continue to invest in FuntouchOS for those devices? These are some of the queries that Vivo is likely to answer in the build up to the big launch next month where we will see the new X300 series announced in China, and hopefully followed by its Indian bow later this year.
