Democrats in the US Congress on Wednesday released photos and videos of Jeffrey Epstein’s luxury island estate, where the convicted sex offender allegedly trafficked underage girls to powerful men.

While the images, showing the lavish villa, seaside landscaping and large pool on Little Saint James in the US Virgin Islands, offer little new information, they intensify pressure on the Trump administration to release long-withheld investigative files related to Epstein’s activities.

The push for transparency comes after President Donald Trump resisted the release of the Epstein files for months. He ultimately relented on November 19, signing a law compelling the Department of Justice to make the investigative materials public.

How much of the extensive case file will be released remains unclear, with officials expected to cite ongoing investigations. Epstein, a wealthy financier with close ties to influential figures, including Trump, was convicted in 2008 of two sex crimes, serving roughly a year under unusually lenient conditions. He avoided more serious charges until 2019, when he was arrested for sex trafficking of minors; he died by suicide in a New York jail later that year.

Although Trump and his allies have long framed the Epstein saga as a scandal protecting powerful Democrats, Trump himself maintained a years-long friendship with Epstein, raising questions about what he knew. After returning to office in January, Trump shifted from demanding the files’ release to calling the scandal a “hoax" and resisting disclosure.
