The deadly blast near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station on Monday, which claimed twelve lives and left at least 20 others injured, has prompted an outpouring of grief and solidarity from the international community. Several countries and diplomatic missions based in New Delhi have expressed condolences and extended support to India in the aftermath of what investigators suspect to be a terror attack.
According to officials, the blast occurred near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station, inside a Hyundai i20 car, setting off a fire that engulfed nearby vehicles. Fire and rescue teams rushed to the spot, and forensic experts have been deployed to ascertain the exact cause of the explosion. Preliminary findings suggest that the incident may have been the result of a planned terror strike.
In the hours following the tragedy, embassies and high commissions across New Delhi shared their messages of sympathy and solidarity, and also issued advisories to their citizens.

The United States Embassy in New Delhi released a security alert for its citizens, advising them to steer clear of the Red Fort and Chandni Chowk areas. The Embassy said it was closely monitoring the situation in coordination with local authorities.
France’s Ambassador extended “deepest condolences" to those who lost their loved ones and wished a “full and complete recovery" to the injured. France also issued a travel advisory for its citizens in India.
From South Asia, Bangladesh’s High Commissioner expressed sorrow for the victims and stated that “Bangladesh stands by India at this distressful hour." Similarly, the Sri Lankan High Commission conveyed its condolences and said it “stands in solidarity with the people and Government of India."
Australia’s High Commissioner also offered “deepest condolences," sending thoughts to the bereaved families.
The Embassy of Iran issued a statement expressing “deep sorrow" and extending “sincere condolences" to the Government and people of India over the tragic loss of lives.
Japan’s Ambassador conveyed “deep sorrow over the loss of lives," offering prayers for the speedy recovery of those injured.
The European Union (EU) Ambassador joined in extending “deepest condolences to the victims," adding, “We stand by the Indian people in this moment of shock and grief."
Messages of sympathy also came from the Embassy of Egypt, which offered “sincere condolences," as well as from Argentina and Morocco, both of which expressed solidarity with India.
The Israeli Ambassador too expressed condolences, reaffirming Israel’s friendship and support for India in this difficult time.
As investigations continue, security agencies are examining footage and material evidence to determine the nature of the explosive used. Senior officials have not ruled out the possibility of a coordinated terror attack.
