The double murder of crypto millionaire Roman Novak and his wife Anna has sent shockwaves across the international business and crypto communities.
The dismembered bodies of Roman Novak and Anna were found buried in a desert near Dubai. They were reported missing several weeks before and were last seen more than a month ago.
According to reports, the remains of Roman and Anna were located in a remote area near the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve. Investigators said their bodies were dismembered before being buried in shallow graves.
Authorities reportedly said the brutal killings were directly linked to financial dealings within the volatile cryptocurrency market. Roman and Anna vanished after being lured to a meeting with alleged investors in Hatta, near the Oman border.
Their personal driver told the Dubai Police that he dropped them off at a car park, where they were transferred to another vehicle for the meeting. Investigators have found that this was, in fact, a trap to lure them to a rented villa on the pretext of investment talks.
They said once at the desired location, the Novaks were kidnapped, tortured, and held for ransom. The primary demand was access to Roman’s cryptocurrency wallets, which were allegedly tied to funds stolen from his previous ventures.
Reports indicate that the investigation revealed that the high-value crypto wallets were allegedly empty. When Roman failed to comply with the ransom demand, the kidnappers killed him and his wife.
The investigation has reportedly revealed traces of Anna’s blood at the rental villa and in a rental car, alongside the knives used in the crime. Following this, the couple’s home was ransacked and several electronic devices, including crypto wallets and hard drives, were found missing.
