At least nine people were killed after an explosion hit a parked car outside a court in Pakistan’s Islamabad on Tuesday. Many of those injured in the explosion were taken to the PIMS Hospital in the city.

As per social media claims, the explosion was caused by a gas cylinder near the district court in the city.

Pakistani news website Dawn reported that the blast occurred in the G-11 area and that there were multiple injuries.

Videos showed scenes of panic as a car could be seen in flames soon after the explosion.

Preliminary investigations suggest the attacker detonated the explosive vest near the main entrance during peak crowd hours.

Security agencies have cordoned off the area, and a high alert has been issued across Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

No group has claimed responsibility yet, but officials suspect involvement of TTP or its allied faction.
