WhatsApp online scams have become a serious issue for users and Meta is finally bringing a slew of tools to protect them.

WhatsApp online scams are getting more alert tools
WhatsApp scams are a real menace and Meta has decided to take matters into its own hands by keeping its users safe from such attacks. It has introduced a slew of anti-scam tools that will work across WhatsApp, Facebook and more products that will not only help them by alerting them about the scams but also prevent them from falling prey.
Online scams through WhatsApp have resulted in massive losses for many users, and its overall popularity makes it a favourite among scammers and hackers. Meta realises the need to curb such scams and seek your consent before going ahead with different tasks.
WhatsApp Online Scam Alert: How It Works
One of the biggest threats to WhatsApp users comes in the form of linking devices and the company says the platform will now offer alerts when it detects suspicious linking requests to your WhatsApp account.
This is a concern because some of the attackers have tried the route to access the victim’s device and are able to not only read messages but use other features as well. The alert will pop up on the display before the user decides whether to allow linking with the device or reject it.
The online scams are often sent via messages from unknown sources. The messaging app will look for patterns that it has been trained to detect as scams and alert the user and suggest to them different ways in which such scams are targeted at the victims on WhatsApp.
Similarly, for Facebook, Meta is bringing an alert tool when the users get a friend request from suspicious accounts. The factors could be linked to the location of the person sending the request or check for their mutual links with you on the platform.
Companies have been ordered to devise new ways to stop these online scams and WhatsApp clearly needs more support, especially with its revered end-to-end encryption which is a boon as well as a bane for many.
