Apple launched the budget MacBook Neo model earlier this month during its ‘big week event’ and it seems the company is already planning for the Neo 2 version. The details about the Neo v2.0 has been shared by known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo this week, who claims the new model will have some notable upgrades and not just about the hardware changes.

Apple is likely to continue using the A-series chip from the iPhone lineup but other iPad-like tweaks are expected for the MacBook Neo 2 as the company looks to widen its user base amidst the AI charge over the next few years.

MacBook Neo 2 Will Be Coming: What To Expect

The first change, according to Kuo, could be the display getting touch support which will make it even closer to an iPad running on macOS platform. The main upgrade could be shifting to the latest A19 Pro chip from the iPhone 17 series and pack it with 12GB RAM which many expected with the current Neo model this year.

There are some concerns about how the A18 Pro fares on the Neo (reviews awaited), but it is likely to perform better with the A19 Pro version on the Neo 2 model. Having touch supported on a Mac device suggests Apple could make macOS compatible with the feature, which could also aid its plans for a higher-end MacBook Pro OLED model in the next few years.

With the Neo launching a few days back, it might be too early to talk about the Neo 2 version. However, all the details from Kuo do make sense, especially if the original Neo needs to be upgraded.

Apple is charging Rs 69,900 for the 256GB MacBook Neo in India, while the 512GB model (with Touch ID) gets priced at Rs 79,900 in the country. Going by the mentioned upgrades, expect the Neo 2 to be priced even higher, which then brings the older MacBook Air models back into the picture.
