New Delhi,UPDATED: Jun 13, 2025 03:14 IST

A JetBlue plane skidded off the runway at Boston Logan Airport on Thursday, briefly stopping all flights at the busy travel hub.

The incident occurred just before noon(local time), when JetBlue Flight 312, an Airbus A220-300 coming from Chicago, landed on runway. According to local reports, the plane veered off the runway after touching down. No injuries were reported.

"All crew and customers are safe," said Tyesha Best, president of the Transport Workers Union of America Local 579, in a statement to CNN. She added, "We remain in contact with the company to provide all needed support for those affected."

Jetblue Flight 312 operated by an Airbus A220 plane, registered as N3242J, skids off the runway 33-L and comes to a rest on an unpaved area upon landing in Boston.

Massport says the runway remains closed to assess the incident.

INCIDENT COMES AMID GROWING AIR TRAVEL CONCERNS

Earlier on the same day, a tragic crash took place in India, where a London-bound Air India flight crashed seconds after takeoff from Ahmedabad. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner had 242 people on board, and officials reported only one person survived.

The sole survivor was found walking through the wreckage. The crash caused a huge fireball, and many people on the ground were also reported dead as the plane came down in a densely populated area. The passengers included 169 Indian nationals, 53 people from the UK, seven from Portugal, and one from Canada.

This year has already seen multiple air travel incidents, particularly in the US. In January, an American Airlines passenger jet collided mid-air with a Blackhawk military helicopter near Reagan Airport in Washington, D.C., killing 67 people.
