A 4.8-magnitude earthquake struck Pakistan early Sunday, following a stronger 5.4 quake Saturday. Both were shallow, increasing shaking intensity.
An earthquake of magnitude 4.8 struck Pakistan shortly after midnight on Sunday, according to the Centre for Seismology (NCS). The quake occurred at 12:40 am IST at a depth of 10 kilometres, with its epicenter located at latitude 33.36N and longitude 73.23E. No immediate reports of damage or casualties have been confirmed.
Earlier on Saturday, a stronger 5.4-magnitude earthquake hit parts of Pakistan, affecting regions including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Islamabad, and leaving residents shaken.
Shallow quakes like these often cause stronger ground shaking due to the reduced distance seismic waves travel to the surface.
