OxygenOS 16 version is official and here are the new features

OxygenOS 16 has been announced which will be the global software version for OnePlus devices for the next 12 months. The OnePlus 15 launch is confirmed for this month in China but its India release timeline is also expected in the next few weeks and that’s where the OxygenOS 16 version comes into play.

It is based on the Android 16 version which means focus is on UI changes, better and new AI features and improved support for multi-platform devices. OnePlus also has shared the devices that will be getting the OxygenOS 16 update starting from November, 2025.

OxygenOS 16 Update: What’s New?

The UI changes at first glance look minimal but that’s not a bad thing since the OxygenOS 15 update had a solid chunk of improvements. Having said that, some of the app icons have got a new design and colour grading. OnePlus is also giving you the app drawer flexibility where you can choose the iOS-style layout or the regular Android swipe to move layers.

The search bar is now at the bottom of the screen. The liquid glass elements are once again evident in the clips but its use has been limited to select apps for now.

But like most of the Android 16 upgrades, OxygenOS 16 also sees big changes with the lockscreen. You get a wide range of clocks that can completely be immersed within the background and add multiple layers of widgets according to the needs.

The Android 16 version gets a new Compass app and you also have a Game Assistant app replacing the Games app. For connectivity, OxygenOS 16 lets you connect with a tablet or PC (Windows or macOS) and transfer files seamlessly. This is a very useful upgrade for Apple users who get more cross-platform support.

OnePlus is also integrating its Plus Mind AI ecosystem to work with Gemini which opens up a whole new playground of apps, tasks and functions.
