Google is bringing new ways to help people check for spam content and Circle to search is the next mode to allow people to prevent a mishap. The spam detection option built into this feature is rolling out with a new update this week, and will be available for eligible Android phones over the next few weeks. 

Fraudsters are getting savvy and even using AI to modify their source of attacks, so Google is fighting with fire and using the same tool to thwart such dangers. 

Google’s Spam Prevention Tool: How It Works 

Google is making Circle to Search work beyond its initial focus. If you see any suspicious content on the screen, the feature allows you to check its authenticity and help people flag possible fraud websites or even articles. The good use of this support could help people avoid falling prey to scams, which has become a serious menace in recent years. 

This update from Google is also important in other ways, with more features on offer for the users. The other big addition is Call Reason which as the name suggests, will inform the users when they get a call and why that person is calling them. 

This works through the Google Phone app and you can save a contact urgent to make use of the new option. This is similar to Google labeling mails with stars or other icons to bring it to your attention. 

So, if you miss a call from any of the urgent contacts, that label will reflect on the call feed and enable you to remember calling them back. It is still in the beta phase and you will need to use the default Phone app to enable the feature, but we expect the tool to get better with future updates. 

Google has one last event lined up for 2025 and we could see the company talk more about its Android XR platform that caters to smart display devices. We’ve seen the Android 16 unveiled at The Android Show earlier this year and now the same platform could become the source for more details about the smart glasses version of Android. 

The company did tease its focus on the smart segment during the Google I/O 2025 and now we could see actual products with newer use cases and how Gemini is likely to be at the forefront of its purpose.
