Honor has showcased its unique camera phone with a gimbal system and other AI-centric tech at the MWC 2026 this week.
Honor Robot Phone is coming this year but what is so special about it?
Honor’s Robot Phone now has a launched timeline and we will be seeing the unique device in the market later this year. The product was first teased in October last year, and is heavily adopted within its Magic V6 foldable but carries much more advanced mechanics to handle the load and functionality of a robot.
The company claims this has an industry-first gimbal system that has been built into a smartphone body. This is part of Honor’s Mobile World Congress 2026 (MWC 2026) lineup in Barcelona this week.
Honor Robot Phone Launching Soon: What It Offers
The biggest highlight of the Robot Phone is its 200MP camera that has been integrated with a three-axis mechanical gimbal system inside a phone, a first in the industry as claimed by Honor. Think of it like a DJI gimbal system built into a phone that can be rotated across different angles and offer stabilised video shooting in varied situations.
The camera is obviously laden with AI features, including object tracking and allows the unit to track the subject as they move in the frame.
Honor is working with motion picture specialists from Germany called ARRI to bring this imaging technology to the Robot Phone. This unique device will be launching in the second half of this year in China and gradually come to other regions. Other hardware specs of the Robot Phone will likely be revealed closer to launch.
Honor calls it “a new species of smartphone," and we rather agree to such statements, especially when you gather the details and purpose of the device. Having said that, expect such a unique product to cost well over the market trends, not only because of what it offers but also for the lack of similar options available.
In addition to this phone, Honor has also used the MWC 2026 platform to showcase its own humanoid robot and a new silicon-carbon battery tech that can be equipped into foldable devices.
