Gemini is bringing more features to your Google/Android smart TV in 2026 and that includes image editing and voice prompts.

Gemini nano banana and other features are coming to the big screen this year

Smart TVs are getting more Gemini powers and at the latest CES 2026 in Las Vegas this week, Google has announced support for Nano Banana image editing for the big screens. Gemini has been the chosen successor to Google Assistant across platforms and the company is looking to add more tools so that people use the AI chatbot more than before on their Google TV powered smart televisions.

In total, Google is offering four new features on its TV platform which has replaced Android TV over the last few years. Nano banana has been offered on mobile and desktop for a while and TVs obviously have become the next source for the Gemini AI features to be made available. 

Gemini Upgrades For Google TV: What You Can Expect 

Google TV users will have four new features coming their way with the new update later this year. Gemini AI will support your requests to generate dynamic themes and even slideshows based on your needs. 

The AI model will also let you get responses for complex queries and even use the Photos integration with your Google account to get relevant images or moments on the big screen. You can use Nano Banana or Veo to edit these photos into animated clips or modified with customised themes and prompts. 

Gemini is also going to make it easy to change the settings for your movies based on the voice prompts that you generally give using the bundled voice-supported remote. 

Google TV With Gemini: Who Gets It? 

Google is offering the new Gemini AI features for select TCL TVs with other brands to get it in the next few months. You will also need the Android TV 14 version or later to get these AI upgrades from the company. We hope to see it running through Google Chromecast and TV streamer devices as well.

Android TV updates have been slower from most brands so it is pivotal that the 14 version (or even newer ones) are offered for most current models to get the benefit of these Gemini AI upgrades for the big screen.
