Asus is one of the many brands that will have to rethink its plans for 2026 and it might be looking to focus on other products.

The smartphone market is going to see drastic changes in 2026 thanks to the AI push making RAM prices higher than ever. And now a report claims one brand is happy to ditch launching phones to counter this surge for the whole year.

Asus is likely to pause its phone launches in 2026 which means the ROG Phone and ZenFone series will not be refreshed in the market.

It doesn’t come as a shock that Asus could be realigning its focus to the other segment, especially since the last phone launch from the brand was more than a year ago. The report Taiwan by DigiTimes suggests the company is going to stop restocking its existing models either, and that could have a direct impact on its overall situation in the phone market over the next 12 months.

No More Asus Phones: Short Term Pain?

Asus is one of the many brands that are having second thoughts about keeping the phone business going. The market is seeing heavy demand for memory and storage components and we’ve already seen the latter become a vital part of changing business for some of the biggest names.

Could Asus have a similar strategy in play, and decide against launching phones anymore? It is too early to suggest that but all signs hint at a lower volume ploy which could eventually allow them to focus on categories where the money and margins are better.

The rumours about no ROG Phone or ZenFone launch in 2026 has not been officially confirmed yet but other details mean the company could do that anytime now. We certainly hope this is more of a short term move that allows the brand to gain from the intense RAM demand and revert back to its usual strategy in the next few years.

The report does claim Asus will continue to offer updates and service support for all its existing ROG Phone and ZenFone models which means the regular service will be available for those using Asus devices.

Asus is a strong player in the PC segment, where its laptops, and AIOs sell big but it also has other PC components that allow you to build/assemble systems. With the craze to build AI machines, the pivot could be a smart short term strategy that could pay dividends in the long run.
