Former US President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that has spread to his bones, according to a statement from his office released on Sunday.

The diagnosis was confirmed on Friday after Biden reported experiencing urinary issues. His medical team is now evaluating possible treatment options, and the former president is consulting closely with doctors and his family.

“Although this is a more aggressive type of cancer, it appears to be hormone-sensitive, which means it can be managed effectively,” the statement noted.

Biden, whose presidency concluded on January 20 with Donald Trump’s inauguration, is currently not holding any public office.

This is a developing story.
