The Embassy of India in Portugal issued a response following a protest organised by Pakistani nationals near the Indian Chancery building. The Embassy described the protest as a "desperate provocations" and affirmed that India responded decisively through "Operation Sindoor."
In a post on X, the Embassy stated: “Embassy of India in Portugal responded firmly with ‘Operation Sindoor’ to the cowardly protest organised by Pakistan near our Chancery building. We thank the Government of Portugal and its police authorities for their support in ensuring the safety and security of the Embassy.”
"India will not be intimidated by such desperate provocations. Our resolve remains unshaken."
Earlier on May 2, the Indian community in the UK countered pro-Pakistan and Khalistani protestors outside the High Commission of India in London. They gathered there to show strength as part of similar high-octane demonstrations across the UK, condemning terrorism and Pakistan-sponsored terrorism.
The protests started after terrorists attacked and killed 26 people, including tourists, in Pahalgam in Kashmir on April 22.
Similarly, in April, the Indian community in London was holding protests outside the Pakistani High Commission, following the Pahalgam terror attack. However, a senior Pakistan Army official sparked controversy by making a throat-slitting gesture at hundreds of protesters gathered there.
