'DMK Will Always Support Muslim Community': Stalin On Prophet Muhammad's Birth Anniversary

He stressed that it was only due to the legal fight of the DMK and others that the Supreme Court has stayed the provisions of the Waqf Amendment Act.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Sunday, while addressing an event on the birthday anniversary of Prophet Muhammad, said that the rights of Muslim people under his government will always be protected and secured.

“Whenever Muslims face challenges, the DMK has been the first political movement to stand with them. I assure you, the DMK will always support the Muslim community and protect their rights," Stalin said.

He also launched a scathing attack at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the Waqf law amendment issue and stressed that it was only due to the legal fight of the DMK and others that the Supreme Court has stayed the provisions of the controversial amendment act.

Further taking a swipe at AIADMK, he said that due to its “betrayal" on matters like CAA and triple talaq, leaders of the main opposition party, like Anwar Raja, have quit that party and joined the DMK.

“Not only that, but if Muslims face trouble, the first political outfit that comes to your support is the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). It was the DMK that fought against the CAA (Amendment) with a true spirit of friendship," he said.

Without naming AIADMK chief and former Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, Stalin said, “You know pretty well who asked if anyone was affected by that (CAA) and you under whose regime the Muslims were baton-charged for protesting against the CAA."

Everyone is aware of the double standards adopted by the AIADMK when the Centre brought the Triple Talaq law (The Muslim Women—Protection of Rights on Marriage– Act, 2019). That was why leaders like Anwar Raja quit the AIADMK for its betrayal and joined the DMK, said the CM.

CM Stalin was addressing an event in Chennai on the 1,500th birthday of Prophet Muhammad. The Chief Minister also hailed the Prophet’s preachings and said reformist leader Periyar EVR and iconic leaders Anna and Karunanidhi had hailed equality and love, taught by the prophet.
