Bangladesh Election Results 2026 LIVE: BNP Secures 151 Seats, Returns To Power After 20 Years

According to official data released by the Election Commission, the Bangladesh ist Party (BNP) has secured 151 seats in the recently concluded polls.

Addressing a press conference, Bangladesh Election Commissioner Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah said, “I thank all political leaders, media representatives, observers, security personnel, and everyone involved for their role in this historic election on 13 February.”

“On behalf of the Election Commission, I express our sincere gratitude. Our only commitment was to ensure a transparent and impartial election through strict enforcement of the law. We treated this responsibility as a sacred trust and completed it successfully,” he added.

Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also extended his wishes to Tarique Rahman and said that Pakistan remains committed to elevating bilateral cooperation with Bangladesh.

“Warm felicitations to Mr. Tariq Rahman on leading the elections in Bangladesh. I am confident that, under your able stewardship, Bangladesh will continue its journey towards peace, progress, and prosperity,” Dar wrote on a post on X.

“Pakistan remains committed to elevating our bilateral cooperation on the basis of sovereign equality and mutual respect. I also congratulate the people of Bangladesh on a successful democratic transition,” he added.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar reposted PM Modi’s statement congratulating Bangladesh ist Party (BNP) leader Tarique Rahman.

BNP secured a decisive win in the Bangladesh elections and is set to form a governmnet in the country.

Extending wishes to Tarique Rahman, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took to X and wrote, “I extend my warmest felicitations to Mr. Tarique Rahman on leading the BNP to a resounding victory in the Parliamentary elections in Bangladesh. I also congratulate the people of Bangladesh on the successful conduct of the elections.”

“I look forward to working closely with the new Bangladesh leadership to further strengthen our historic, brotherly multifaceted bilateral relations and advance our shared goals of peace, stability, and development in South Asia and beyond,” he added.

With BNP declaring victory in the Bangladesh election, its leadership has called for restraint and nationwide prayers rather than public celebrations.

BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has directed leaders and activists at all organisational tiers to offer special prayers across the country after Juma prayers today.

US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T Christensen congratulated Bangladesh on a successful election and to the Bangladesh ist Party and Tarique Rahman on the historic victory.

“The United States looks forward to working with you to realise shared goals of prosperity and security for both our countries,” Christensen wrote in a post on X.

After receiving a massive mandate, the Bangladesh ist Party congratulated the people of the country.

The party has claimed a majority and has declared victory.

The Bangladesh ist Party (BNP) on Friday claimed that it had secured a majority in the parliamentary elections and is preparing to form the next government.

“The Bangladesh ist Party is set to form the government after winning the majority of seats,” the BNP Media Cell posted on X.
