Apple is working with Google to bring the Siri AI version back to life and Gemini AI will have a big say in that.

Apple is working with Google for the new-gen Siri AI version
Apple is bringing the next-gen Siri version and it will be powered by the Gemini AI model as multiple reports have said in the last few weeks. The company has shared more details about this special deal and what iPhone users can expect from the new-look Siri. Apple, during its recent earnings call was understandably quizzed about its AI plans and the Google deal that gives access to a custom version of Gemini.
But many have been worried about Apple going away from its privacy-first focus across platforms and Google’s deal could have some sort of impact on their data. Apple has mentioned that people won’t have anything to worry about those aspects of this AI version.
Siri AI With Gemini: What Apple Has Said
Apple CEO Tim Cook and CFO Kevan Parekh were part of the call and gave more details about how Siri will function with Gemini powering the assistant. Cook assured that all of the AI features from the company will be processed on-device with the help of its private cloud compute setup. This means even if you use the Gemini AI version of Siri, Apple holds control of how the data is handled, and gives no rights to Google which will be a relief for millions.
The Apple chief also confirmed that just because it will use Gemini AI for its new features doesn’t mean the work on its AI development has stopped or been replaced. So, if many thought that Apple will replace Siri with Gemini in the near future, that’s a big no from Cook.
Apple’s bid to get Siri AI off the ground could get an early teaser in February, according to a new report. The company’s reported deal with Google to use a custom Gemini AI model to power its assistant is likely to be part of the iOS 26.4 update which is expected to roll out by March or April at maximum.
And that means the iOS 26.4 beta versions should be available to the developers and beta testers by mid-to-late February, as mentioned by Bloomberg in a recent piece.
This will be a big moment for the company which continues to lag behind the other tech giants but still very much in a nascent race that needs more clarity and quality.
