An Afghan man suspected of shooting two Guard soldiers near the White House had previously worked with the United States military in Afghanistan, according to US media reports.

The man, who was taken into custody shortly after the attack, is believed to have arrived in the US during the evacuation of Afghan nationals following the Taliban takeover. Authorities have not yet released his identity or a motive for the shooting, and the soldiers remain in critical condition.
