The GST 2.0 was rolled out on September 22, aiming to simplify taxation and reduce the financial burden on households, businesses and farmers ahead of the festive season. Actor Ravi Kishan, BJP MP from Gorakhpur, took to X to celebrate the news, but while he focused on families, the internet had a very different priority – samosa! Yes, you heard it right.

In a post celebrating the reforms, the actor-politician wrote in Hindi, “The Government of India has reduced GST rates, fulfilling the dreams of many families during the festivals."

‘But, What About Samosa’

While the nation was applauding the tax cuts, netizens had nothing but samosas on their mind. Their reaction? Priceless as they debated whether the much-loved snack had actually become cheaper.

One user wrote, “Bhaiya samosa ka daam kam nahi hua hai, aaj bhi 10 rs ka mila tha hai, is par karyavahi kijiye Brother, the price of samosa has not reduced. I still got it for Rs 10 today—please take action!)"

Another commented, “Mere yaha to Rs 5 ka milta hai (I get it for Rs 5 at my place)."

The debate continued as someone else joined in, “Samose ko GST se bahar karwana chahiye (Samosas should be kept outside GST)."

And one more hilarious reaction came from a user who wrote, “15 rs ka h bhai…humare yaha to (It costs Rs 15 here, at our place)."

What Was the Internet’s Reaction to Ravi Kishan

BJP MP and actor Ravi Kishan recently found himself at the centre of online trolling after a video of him went viral, where he claimed that the new GST reforms had reduced the prices of essential goods by more than 50 per cent. His example? “A Rs 1 item will be priced at 40–45 paise, a Rs 100 item at Rs 45," he said.

While people questioned Ravi Kishan’s ‘math’ skills, opposition leader Akhilesh Yadav also shared the video, accusing the BJP of “setting a world record in lying." He wrote, “Those people who, in the name of GST, claim that all items are available at 50 per cent discount ‘with examples,’ and who know nothing about it, should better remain silent. They may not be malicious, but they are certainly ignorant."

Not The First Time For Ravi Kishan

This is not the first time Ravi Kishan has grabbed the attention of the public with his comments. Earlier, his funny speech from the inauguration of a crematorium on the banks of the Rapti River went viral. The Gorakhpur MP recalled the hilarious incident during a chat with Navbharat Times and shared that he was urging people to maintain cleanliness, but accidentally ended up saying that those who died there would “directly go to heaven" but only if they kept the ghat clean.

The slip of tongue earned him massive trolling online, and even today, he admits that people remind him of the speech wherever he goes. Kishan later clarified that he actually wanted to say, “Don’t defecate on the riverbank, or you will go to hell," but by then, the damage was already done.
