YouTube video playback speed is having issues for Android users this week, which means the feature is not working as expected for people using the platform on Android phones or even tablets.

Playback speeds are generally kept to 1x level by default and people can manually change the settings for videos from the app settings. But the new YouTube Android bug is limiting its ability to be customised, and YouTube has reportedly admitted to the issue that has made the playback feature unusable.

YouTube Playback Speed Issue: What It Says

YouTube users on Android (both stable and beta versions) are facing the playback bug issue. We were independently able to check for the bug which means if the playback speed is changed from 1x to 2x, the platform will revert to the default speed without changing the settings. We also did not see the playback speed issue affecting the YouTube Music app which means the bug is limited to select users on the regular YouTube Android app.

“We’re aware some of you are experiencing issues adjusting playback speed while watching videos on Android devices. Our teams are actively investigating this issue! We’ll update this thread as soon as we have new information," YouTube has been quoted saying in a report by 9to5Google.

One of YouTube’s big rivals in the market, Spotify has revised its pricing tier in markets like India this week. The company has changed its pricing in India for the first time since its launch in 2019.

The new plans will be revised for users, duo and even the family versions.  The basic Spotify individual plan will now cost you Rs 139 per month, which is a Rs 20 hike on the current version. Similarly, the Spotify Duo plan, which allows two people to use one account, now comes at Rs 179 per month, which is a Rs 30 increase on the previous offering.

And the family plan has got the biggest hike of Rs 50, which means you need to spend Rs 229 (rather than Rs 179) per month for up to 6 people to use one account.
