Samsung TV outage has affected loading of apps like Hulu and YouTube in select regions but Netflix is working on the big screen.

Samsung TV outage has affected thousands of its users this Friday
Samsung TV users faced a major outage early on Friday morning as its smart TV app was unavailable for a few hours to more thousands of users. Samsung uses its own platform to run apps and Live TV channels and it seems that any app running through its network and server went offline turning many smart TVs to just a dumb brick on the wall.
The outage tracker platform, Downdetector also confirms the outage with the Samsung TV app which started over 3:00 AM IST going way over 3 hours for people living in different parts of the United States.
Samsung TV App Goes Offline, What Happened?
The tracking platform says over 79 percent of the Samsung TV users were facing issues with the app, which explains why most of the platforms running through its server were not available. Interestingly, some users claim Netflix was still available on their TVs which explains the isolated Samsung network issue that has caused the down time this week. It seems some people living in India are also seeing the same problem with their TVs.
FYI. If you own a Samsung tv and it isn’t working properly, that’s because their servers are down, which means no internet connection.— Thorne (@Thorne75658284) August 1, 2025
Many have shared their outburst around the issue on social media, and even highlighted that no level of troubleshooting will fix the problem with the TVs. And yes, please do not reset the TV.
Don’t adjust your Samsung TV or do a reset. It’s not the TV or your internet connection.Samsung servers are down and most of your apps will not work. https://t.co/D4GrabzGRt

While some say Samsung needs to be more proactive in reaching out to its customers and tell them what issue has caused the outage.
@SamsungTV Hey Samsung, since there is a global outage, how about putting out a statement to let people know what’s going on anything would be appreciated. Gotta love failing in the customer support department.— Sean McCollom (@seanmccollom) August 1, 2025
The company’s website does not have a dedicated section where it can publicly share the outage status report and that seems to have triggered more anger among people who have spent thousands on their big TVs from the brand.
Smart TVs are convenient to use but you need them connected to the internet, just like your phone, laptop or even tablets. If the apps on the TVs are not available or loading, you just have a big piece of brick attached to your living room’s wall.
Samsung does have the Wall TV series that might work just fine in these cases, but a major outage also brings back the age-old question of, how much smartness is too much.
