Microsoft has issued a buggy update that has affected Windows 11 users and now the company is looking to fix them.

The latest Windows 11 update has caused a lot of issues
Windows 11 PCs were facing shutdown issues after a bug-ridden update was issued by Microsoft for millions recently. These updates are usually stable and only released once the glitches are fixed but it seems the company had a minor lapse at its end which is why an update prevented older PCs from shutting down.
Microsoft has admitted to the issue caused by the January 2026 update for Windows 11 users which seems to have multiple problems and is now offering a fix for all of them. It is not often that you have an update making these many features unusable but the recent one definitely fits into that dubious list.
Microsoft’s Windows 11 Shutdown Issue: What The Company Is Doing
Microsoft has shared the details about the Windows 11 related bugs that have affected many users. One is linked to remote desktop connections, the big shut down issue and Outlook Classic crashing. The company is in the process of fixing the first two while the last one will be rectified soon.
Out of all these, the shut down bug is probably the most annoying one. Many users noticed that post installing the Windows 11 January 2026 update their system was only rebooting after clicking on the shut down button. The company was serious about fixing the issue which seems to have affected the enterprise bunch mostly. However, Microsoft assures the bug did not have a major impact for its user base and only a small section were facing the issue.
The company has released an emergency update for Windows 11 users on January 17 that seems to have fixed the glitches and made their systems stable. There are more issues that Microsoft has to address and fix and we are hoping the company has them working behind the scenes and rolled out at the earliest.
The concerns for the company don’t end there. The Indian government has warned about security issues with Microsoft Office apps like Word, Excel and PowerPoint that are used by millions.
The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team or CERT-In is the source of the alert once again and in January 2026 it is notifying all the users who could become an easy target for the hackers if the issues are exploited. The new alert comes with a high severity rating which immediately makes it worth your attention.
