US President Donald Trump has invited Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to visit the White House "in the near future," Netanyahu's office said after a phone call between the two leaders on Tuesday evening.
According to the Israeli readout, both leaders underlined "the importance of and commitment to dismantling Hamas's military capabilities and demilitarising the Gaza Strip," while also discussing prospects for expanding regional peace accords. The upcoming visit would be Netanyahu's fifth since Trump returned to office in January.

"It is very important that Israel maintain a strong and true dialogue with Syria, and that nothing takes place that will interfere with Syria's evolution into a prosperous State," Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
NETANYAHU SEEKS PARDON AS TRIAL CONTINUES
The conversation also came a day after Netanyahu formally sought a pardon from Israeli President Isaac Herzog in his long-running corruption trial -- a request made without any admission of guilt. Trump has openly supported a pardon, including in remarks delivered in the Knesset in October and in a follow-up letter.
Netanyahu has been on trial for six years and faces three separate cases involving charges of fraud, bribery and breach of trust. Prosecutors allege he accepted expensive gifts from wealthy benefactors in exchange for political favours and manipulated regulatory powers to secure favourable media coverage. The cases, which opened in 2020, have moved slowly, with hearings regularly postponed as Netanyahu attends to the country's security and political pressures.
In his latest statement, Netanyahu reiterated his desire to close the case without stepping aside from office.
"President Trump called for an immediate end to the trial so that, together with him, I could advance even more vigorously the vital interests shared by Israel and the United States, within a time window that may never return," Netanyahu said.
