A man has been arrested following an incident at the Cincinnati, Ohio, home of US Vice President JD Vance, in which a window was clearly broken, according to footage from WLWT 5.
Vance was not at home during the incident, and no injuries have been reported. Authorities have yet to release a motive or further details about the suspect.
Vance addressed the incident on X, writing: “I appreciate everyone’s well wishes about the attack at our home. As far as I can tell, a crazy person tried to break in by hammering the windows. I’m grateful to the secret service and the Cincinnati police for responding quickly."

He added that he and his family were already in Washington, DC, when the incident occurred: “We weren’t even home as we had returned already to DC."
Vance also appealed to the media to exercise discretion: “One request to the media: we try to protect our kids as much as possible from the realities of this life of public service. In that light, I am skeptical of the news value of plastering images of our home with holes in the windows."
The police have launched an urgent investigation, a federal law enforcement source told CNN. Preliminary reports suggest the suspect did not enter the residence, and the Vance family was not home at the time.
Authorities are investigating whether the incident was a targeted act against Vance or his family. The US Secret Service has not yet issued a statement.
