Iranian media on Friday published a list of major bridges across the Middle East region, in what appeared to be a warning of possible "tit-for-tat" retaliation after a US-Israeli strike destroyed a key bridge in Karaj a day before.

The semi-official Fars News Agency indicated that several prominent bridges in neighbouring countries could be potential targets, after two strikes hit the B1 bridge in the northern Iranian city.

Among the structures named were one each in Kuwait and Bahrain, two in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and three in Jordan.

The list included:

Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Sea Bridge in KuwaitKing Fahd Causeway linking Saudi Arabia to BahrainSheikh Zayed Bridge and Sheikh Khalifa Bridge in the United Arab EmiratesKing Hussein Bridge, Damia Bridge, and Abdoun Bridge in Jordan

US and Israeli forces carried out two strikes on the B1 bridge in Karaj, located in Alborz province, a day before. The attack killed two people and left the structure destroyed.

Videos circulating on social media showed large portions of the bridge collapsing following the strikes.

The B1 bridge, stretching roughly 1,000 metres, is considered one of Iran's significant modern infrastructure projects, built to ease congestion between Tehran and Karaj and to improve connectivity to the country's northern regions.

Following the attack, US President Donald Trump issued a stern message to Iran, threatening to reach a deal "before its too late". Trump also shared a video on his social media account which showed the bridge erupting in a burst of fire and thick smoke after an airstrike earlier in the day.

"The biggest bridge in Iran comes tumbling down, never to be used again - Much more to follow! IT IS TIME FOR IRAN TO MAKE A DEAL BEFORE ITS TOO LATE, AND THERE IS NOTHING LEFT OF WHAT STILL COULD BECOME A GREAT COUNTRY!" the US President said.

The developments come amid heightened regional tensions following a joint US-Israeli offensive launched on February 28, which has killed more than 1,340 people so far, including then Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

In response, Tehran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries that host US military assets.
