ChatGPT Atlas has a new rival from Microsoft that will be integrated into millions of Windows 11 PCs in the next few months.
Agentic AI, memory and more tools coming to Edge browser with Copilot
OpenAI launched its ChatGPT Atlas browser earlier this week and now Microsoft is flexing its muscles with its own AI push in this arena. The Edge browser exists for the company and now it is offering the Copilot Mode which supercharges the browser with new AI features and agentic AI powers.
The company is adding these features to Edge so that people can have options other than Comet, Atlas and even the AI-infused Chrome version from Google. Almost everyone wants to have an AI browser in the market for users and Microsoft was an obvious pick among the lot.
Microsoft Copilot Mode For Edge Browser: New ChatGPT Atlas Rival?
So what does Microsoft bring to its Edge browser that will tempt people into jumping ship. The agentic AI features mean you can ask Copilot to unsubscribe from emails on your behalf, or book a reservation at the fanciest hotels. Unlike ChatGPT, Microsoft is taking it slowly and these tools are part of a limited preview version available only if you reside in the US.
You also have Copilot Actions that act on your command and are claimed to work effectively. Having said that, Microsoft is making sure that people know these AI tools and features can make mistakes, so they should keep their expectations in check.
It also has a memory feature that knows what you did during the last session and goes about with its task based on those activities. Microsoft calls it Copilot Journeys which involves your experience and use of the AI features and Copilot Mode on the Windows 11 PC.
Search is also an integral part of the AI overhaul and it works similar to Google’s AI mode in search for users that is widely available. Microsoft knows that millions of Windows 10 PC users are looking for very strong reasons to make the upgrade (or buy a Mac), and these new Copilot Mode tools could be part of that package where people also have ChatGPT Atlas and Comet from Perplexity in the mix.
