E-commerce firm Meesho Ltd on Friday (March 6) said it has received an assessment order from the Assessment Unit of the Income Tax Department raising a tax demand of ₹1,499.73 crore for the assessment year 2023–24, including applicable interest.
The company received the assessment order under Section 143(3) of the Income-tax Act, 1961, along with a demand notice under Section 156 dated March 5, 2026. Meesho said the order and the notice were received on March 6, 2026.
According to the disclosure, the demand arises after the Income Tax Department made certain additions and adjustments to the income reported by the company for the assessment year.

Meesho said the High Court of Karnataka had granted an interim stay on the earlier demand notice through an order dated April 17, 2025, and the matter is currently pending before the court.
