A private helicopter crash in Russia’s Perm Krai killed two senior figures from the regional transport industry, as per Russian media reports. The aircraft, a Robinson R44 light helicopter, went down near the Ashatli-Park ski and recreation area, a popular winter resort in the region. Both people on board were killed at the scene.

Among the dead was Ilyas Gimadutdinov, a Russian businessman and the founder and owner of Tattranskom, a mid-sized logistics and freight operator working across Perm Krai and several oil- and gas-producing regions. The second victim was Elmir Konakov, a senior executive at the same company who oversaw vehicle convoys and long-haul transport operations, as per reports. Tattranskom is reported to generate annual revenues in the billions of rubles and provides logistics services to industrial and energy-sector clients.

Preliminary findings and eyewitness accounts suggest the helicopter was flying at low altitude near the ski slopes when it struck overhead cables, believed to be part of the resort’s lift or infrastructure system. The aircraft reportedly lost control and crashed shortly afterward.

Investigators are examining several possible factors, including whether the flight was properly authorized, potential pilot error during low-altitude manoeuvring, weather and visibility conditions and compliance with civilian aviation safety rules.

No official cause has been confirmed. Authorities said no one on the ground was injured despite the crash occurring near a recreational area. Emergency services secured the site and transport prosecutors have opened a formal investigation into the incident, as per reports.
