In a fiery post, US President Donald Trump lashed out against the electric vehicle (EV) mandate, calling it “ridiculous" and reaffirming his long-standing opposition to it. Trump said the mandate has always been a major part of his campaign rhetoric, arguing that while electric cars are fine, Americans should not be “forced" to own one.

Trump also took a sharp jab at Tesla CEO Elon Musk, claiming Musk receives “more subsidy than any human being in history." Without government subsidies, Trump suggested, Musk would be forced to “close up shop and head back home to South Africa," halting everything from rocket launches to satellite production and electric vehicle manufacturing. Adding a humorous edge, Trump quipped that “DOGE should take a good, hard look at this", suggesting that significant taxpayer money could be saved by cutting such subsidies.

Later, Elon Musk also responded to Trump’s post, saying: “I am literally saying CUT IT ALL. Now."

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk reignited his criticism of Donald Trump’s flagship tax cut and spending bill on Monday, mocking it as “One Big Beautiful Bill" and hinting that he would launch a new political faction called the “America Party" if the bill is enacted.

In a string of fiery posts on X (formerly Twitter), the Tesla and SpaceX CEO blasted the bill’s record-breaking $5 trillion debt ceiling increase, accusing Congress of reckless spending and bipartisan complacency. “It’s obvious with the insane spending in this bill—which hikes the debt ceiling by a record FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS—that we live in a one-party country… the PORKY PIG PARTY!" Musk declared. He further added, “Time for a new political party that actually cares about the people."

Musk Slams ‘Insane Spending Bill’

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has called for the creation of a new political party in the United States, taking aim at what he describes as an “insane spending bill." The Tesla and SpaceX CEO argued that the country needs an alternative to the Democrat-Republican “uni-party" to ensure that “the people actually have a VOICE."

Earlier, Musk criticised lawmakers who campaigned on promises to cut spending but ultimately backed the bill, accusing them of hypocrisy and failing to serve the public’s interests.
