India’s strained ties with Turkey after its support to Pakistan during Operation Sindoor may remain the same, with less scope for improvement in the near future, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri told the Standing Committee on External Affairs members on Monday, according to sources.

The government briefed the Committee members on Operation Sindoor and its achievements, during which the members inquired about a number of issues related to the subject.

The attendees of the meeting included MPs from the government as well as the Opposition parties, including Shashi Tharoor, Asaduddin Owaisi, Abhishek Banerjee, and others.

As one of the members asked the Foreign Secretary about Turkey and recent developments surrounding India’s ties with the country, Misri said that New Delhi does not see relations getting normalised with Ankara soon.

“Turkey made it stand very clear in its support to Pakistan, and historically, we are not really surprised by what Turkey did. We do not see the relations between India and Turkey becoming normalised in the near future," Misri told the members, according to sources.
