Russian President Vladimir Putin said the call with American counterpart Donald Trump on Monday was “substantive, frank, and very useful", according to a video posted by news agency Nexta. He thanked his American counterpart for helping restart direct dialogue between Moscow and Kyiv.

“Russia is ready to work on a memorandum regarding a future peace agreement with Ukraine. Russia and Ukraine must find compromises acceptable to both sides. A ceasefire with Ukraine is possible if corresponding agreements are reached," he said.

The news agency also said that the talks lasted for two hours.

Russian state-run media outlet Sputnik in a social media post confirmed that the Kremlin is “ready to draft a memorandum with Ukraine — including ceasefire terms".

The state-run outlet in a series of social media post said Russia has officially signalled its willingness to draft a memorandum with Ukraine, including ceasefire terms, marking the first formal admission of such intent and that a deal is now officially on the table.

It highlighted that Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that “compromises must satisfy all parties".
