Astra Microwave Products Ltd won a ₹171.38 crore IMD order for six S-band Doppler weather radars, AWS, and maintenance, boosting weather surveillance despite recent revenue and profit declines. Astra Microwave Products Ltd on Thursday, December 11, said it has won a ₹171.38 crore order from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for the supply of six Klystron-based S-band polarimetric Doppler weather radars, along with associated systems and long-term maintenance support.

In a filing to the stock exchanges, the Hyderabad-based defence and radar systems manufacturer said the order includes automatic weather stations (AWS), disdrometers, and a three-year warranty, followed by seven years of comprehensive annual maintenance contract (CAMC).

The company said the project is to be executed within 18 months.

The IMD award is part of India’s ongoing upgrade of its national weather surveillance and forecasting infrastructure, with S-band radars playing a key role in tracking severe weather systems, including cyclones and heavy rainfall events.

Astra Microwave is one of the country’s indigenous suppliers of radar subsystems and weather radar technology to defence, aerospace, and meteorological agencies. The company operates multiple manufacturing units in Telangana and a dedicated R&D centre at the Bangalore Aerospace Park.

The defence and telecom equipment provider reported a 6.5% drop in its revenue for the September quarter of FY26 to ₹215 crore from ₹229.6 crore in the same quarter last year. EBITDA for the quarter declined by 3% from the same quarter last year to ₹48 crore from ₹49.3 crore. The EBITDA margin remained stable at 22.27% from 21.47% last year, while net profit declined by 5.5% to ₹24 crore from ₹25.4 crore in the year-ago quarter.

Shares of Astra Microwave Products Ltd closed 2.63% higher at ₹910 ahead of the announcement. The stock has dropped 13.25% in the last one month.
