A 26-year-old Indian-origin man was stabbed to death in west London, prompting a murder investigation by the Metropolitan Police, which has appealed for witnesses and CCTV footage as detectives work to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack.

The victim, identified as Gurbhej Singh, suffered fatal injuries during a stabbing on North Road near the junction with Dormers Wells Lane in Southall. Another man, believed to be in his 30s, was also injured in the incident and was taken to hospital. He has since been discharged.

According to the Metropolitan Police, officers were called to the scene by the London Ambulance Service in the early hours of Wednesday. Police and paramedics attended the location, but despite efforts to save him, Singh was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering a knife wound.

POLICE APPEAL FOR WITNESSES

Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell of the Met Police's Specialist Crime Command said investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the killing.

"Homicide detectives continue to investigate Mr Singh's tragic death and my thoughts remain with his family and loved ones," Foxwell said.

"We believe he was assaulted outside a shop at the junction of North Road and Dormers Well Lane at around 00:30hrs (Wednesday)."

She urged anyone who may have information to come forward.

"I would urge anyone with CCTV covering the area – or who was in the area at the time and has not yet spoken to police – to please come forward and speak to police," she said.

ARRESTS AND INVESTIGATION

Police said seven men, ranging in age from their early 20s to late 30s, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.

Following further enquiries, six of those arrested have been released with no further action. The seventh man has been released on bail and is expected to return at a later date as the investigation continues.

FAMILY BEING SUPPORTED

The Metropolitan Police said specialist officers are supporting Singh's family while detectives pursue leads in the case.

Investigators are continuing to seek witnesses and review evidence from the area as they attempt to piece together the events that led to the fatal attack.
