YouTube is putting further emphasis on AI-generated content that you will start seeing on your feed this year.

YouTube has listed down its plans for 2026 and that involves a lot of AI-focused products in the mix. The company is looking to increase the support of the creators and allowing them to post videos generated using AI tools could be one of the many changes we could see YouTube bring to the table. AI-generated content has mostly stoked fear but as the industry warms up to its inclusion, YouTube is in prime position to use its own skill set and community to expand the network further.

The news about YouTube’s big plans with AI content has been shared by YouTube CEO Neil Mohan in a blog post this week. Soon, you will need just an idea (prompt) to generate videos with your own preferences and make them available to billions on the streaming platform.

More AI On Your Feed

Mohan says YouTube will support AI-generated videos and you can create them using text prompts and even try out different versions of music before going live with it for the public.

Creators have been the main fodder on YouTube for many years but bringing AI-generated content does put them in a spot and make them question the future of original content going into the future.

But the YouTube Chief assures that AI will be a tool for expression and not used to replace the community, which does seem believable for now but future promises would be hard to make when it comes to AI and its own evolution. We are eager to hear more about the systems that will be put in place for AI videos and how the process will work/reward the creators in practice.

The AI Content Scare

YouTube is not the first platform to consider bringing AI-generated content to its feed, something that OpenAI has done with Sora while Instagram is equally keen for similar content with Reels on your account feed.

The trouble with allowing AI-generated content to be shared on everyone’s feed is that eventually the viewing numbers might go up and that makes it a viable model for ads, and the next thing you realise, the feed is flooded with AI-generated fake or misinformed content. These companies have a disclaimer below all the AI tools, including the AI mode in Google Search, so training these platforms to support AI has to be done with all these risks in mind.

In addition to AI, YouTube is going to focus on making TVs a strong medium for viewing content this year.
