SpaceX's Starlink is closer than ever to launching its satellite internet service in India, but a few regulatory hurdle is keeping the company from switching on its network. With several gateway sites already built and key licences secured, Starlink is waiting for the remaining approvals to begin commercial operations.

That has clearly frustrated Elon Musk, the billionaire founder of Starlink. In a post on X, he accused unnamed Indian "oligarchs" of blocking Starlink to protect their grip on the country's telecom market.

"Unfortunately, we are being blocked by certain oligarchs in order to maintain their monopolistic chokehold on the Indian people. You can guess who they are ," he wrote on X.

"This is a crime against the people of India!" he added.

He made the allegation while responding to a post arguing that India needs Starlink to expand high-speed internet access in parts of the country where conventional telecom infrastructure remains difficult to build.
