The social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, experienced widespread outages on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, affecting thousands of users across multiple countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada.
Outage-tracking website Downdetector showed a sharp spike in problem reports related to X on Tuesday, indicating a broad service disruption. Users reported difficulty loading timelines, logging in, posting content and accessing direct messages.
At the time of filing this report, several features on X.com were not accessible, including Lists, while other functions loaded intermittently. The Following timeline was visible on the web version, but switching between the Popular and Recent tabs was glitchy, with feeds failing to refresh or displaying errors.
