External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar on Monday inaugurated an exhibition at the UN Headquarters in New York, highlighting the toll of terrorist acts around the world, and said that the exhibition is a “reminder for the challenge before us".

Exposing Pakistan without naming the country, the EAM called upon the world powers to come together against any state sponsorship of terrorism.

“The world must come together on some basic concepts – no impunity for terrorists, no treating them as proxies and no yielding to nuclear… Any state sponsorship must be exposed. This exhibition is a reminder for the challenge before us…Terrorism is a threat to peace everywhere," Jaishankar said while addressing the exhibition event titled ‘The Human Cost of Terrorism’.

“The Exhibition will highlight the devastating toll of heinous terrorist acts around the world, and the steps taken by the international community to combat terrorism," the Ministry of External Affairs said earlier in a statement.

Jaishankar is on a three-day visit to the US at the invitation of Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, to take part in the QUAD Foreign Minister’s Meeting.

He will be in the United States from June 30 to July 2 and will attend the next edition of the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (QFMM) on July 1.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that the Quad Foreign Ministers will continue the talks they had during their last meeting in Washington DC on January 21.

They will share their views on important regional and global issues, especially those related to the Indo-Pacific. The ministers will also review the progress made on different Quad projects so far, ahead of the upcoming Quad Leaders’ Summit, which India will host.

They are also expected to discuss new ideas to strengthen their common goal of keeping the Indo-Pacific region free, open, and secure.

The QUAD is a diplomatic partnership between Australia, India, Japan, and the United States, focused on promoting an open, stable, and prosperous Indo-Pacific that is inclusive and strong.

The group first came together in response to the Indian Ocean tsunami in December 2004.

Earlier in January, on his first day in office, Secretary of State Marco Rubio hosted a key meeting with the Foreign Ministers of Australia, India, and Japan as part of the QUAD alliance.
