A light-hearted yet telling moment unfolded in Pakistan’s Assembly after Speaker Ayaz Sadiq discovered a bundle of currency notes lying on the floor, prompting an honesty test that quickly turned into a spectacle.
During the session earlier this week, speaker Sadiq found 10 PKR 5,000 notes (around Rs 16,500) on the floor of the Assembly and asked, “Whose money is this? Whoever it belongs to, please raise your hand."
To his astonishment, nearly a dozen lawmakers instantly claimed ownership, with 12–13 MPs raising their hands for the ten notes.
“There are 10 notes and twelve owners," the Speaker quipped before briefly halting the session’s formal proceedings.

Netizens React
A video of the incident has since gone viral, triggering a wave of online commentary. Many social media users mocked the lawmakers—one calling them “the system’s rotten eggs," another commenting, “Pakistan can never prosper while these characterless people occupy top slots."
One social media user noted, “How honest our parliament is can be seen by this scenario."
One social media user argued that the incident was reflective of a regular day in Pakistani politics. “They take salaries and perks in millions, yet this is their state," noted the individual.
A Facebook user, Razia Sultan, dragged Nawaz Sharif’s daughter, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, into the drama.
“PMLN is such a poor party. The Speaker should have given them the money, it would have helped get Maryam Nawaz slim," the post read.
Others, however, insisted it was all in jest. “The 11 other MNAs just did it for fun," one user suggested.
