Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu nominated US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, calling it “well-deserved", during their third meeting since January 20 inauguration at the White House on Monday (local time).
Handing over the letter to Trump, which Netanyahu sent to the Nobel Prize Committee, the Israeli Prime Minister said, “you should get it".
“I want to present to you, Mr President, the letter I sent to the Nobel Prize Committee. It’s nominating you for the Peace Prize, which is well deserved, and you should get it," he said, as the two leaders met for a closed-door meeting, reportedly on Gaza ceasefire and Iran nuclear crisis.

During the meeting of the two leaders, Trump is likely to push Netanyahu for an end to the Gaza war.
This comes after Israel and Hamas held indirect talks in Qatar on the ceasefire. The negotiations began on Sunday, July 6, and continued into Monday. Trump has said that he believes there is a “good chance" that there would be an agreement this week for a ceasefire in Gaza.
However, reports claimed that Trump could give a nod to Israel to carry out renewed attacks on Iran if Tehran attempts to revive its nuclear programme.
Though the Trump-brokered ceasefire was reached on June 24, Israel is preparing for the possibility of further military strikes if Iran tries to get its nuclear programme back on track, Axios reported, citing two sources.
During the meeting, Netanyahu aims to reach an understanding with Trump about future plans of the United States regarding its negotiations on Iran’s nuclear programme, and on possible scenarios that would justify renewed military action against its enemy country, Axios reported, citing Israeli officials.
