US President Donald Trump reshared India Today’s cover featuring Narendra Modi on Truth Social.
US President Donald Trump has once again shared the cover image of India Today magazine featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi and himself as the publication's "Newsmakers of the Year 2025", a day after holding bilateral talks with the Indian leader on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in France.
The magazine cover, posted by Trump on his social media platform, carried photographs of the two leaders with the headline "Newsmakers of the Year 2025" and the caption, "The mover & the shaker."
Trump had earlier shared the same magazine cover in February, drawing attention in both India and the United States.
The repost came a day after the US President lavished praise on PM Modi during a media interaction following their meeting at the G7 Summit, where the two leaders discussed trade, defence cooperation, security issues and developments in West Asia.
Speaking about ongoing negotiations for a proposed India-US trade agreement, Trump described PM Modi as one of the toughest leaders he has dealt with.
"We are very close," Trump said when asked about the status of the trade deal. "He is a very tough negotiator. One of the toughest."
In remarks that drew attention, Trump said PM Modi appeared soft-spoken but was an extremely effective negotiator.
"He is the most beautiful looking man, he looks so nice, he is like an angel. But actually he is just tough, he is a killer," Trump said. "People say he is such a nice man. I say he is very tough, he is a tough trader."
The US president also praised PM Modi's leadership and recalled the massive public events the two leaders attended during Trump's first term, including the "Howdy, PM Modi!" event in Texas in 2019 and the "Namaste Trump" rally in Ahmedabad in 2020.
Trump said he looked forward to visiting India again in the future. "We will be going to India some time in the future," he said, recalling his 2020 visit and the large crowds that welcomed him.
Highlighting the strength of bilateral ties, Trump also spoke positively about defence cooperation between the two countries. "I think it is a great relationship," he said. "If they were attacked, we would be there to help them."
Referring to PM Modi, Trump added, "If anybody attacks that man, we are going to be there."
