Tech billionaire Elon Musk has floated a new party – ‘The America Party’ – following his public feud with US President Donald Trump, after his poll on X received support from at least 80% of respondents.

After Musk and Trump engaged in a heated spat on Thursday, the Tesla CEO created a new poll on his X platform, asking whether it was time to create a new political party in America. He revealed the results on Sunday, showing 80% support from respondents.

“The people have spoken. A new political party is needed in America to represent the 80% in the middle! And exactly 80% of people agree. This is fate," he said on X. He later christened it as “The America Party".

It is, however, unclear how Musk would start a new political party in the United States that could challenge the two-party system in the country.

The two high-profile leaders engaged in a public spat on Thursday after Musk publicly condemned Trump’s $4 trillion “big, beautiful bill", denouncing it as a “disgusting abomination". Trump said he was “very disappointed" with Musk and did not know if his friendship with the billionaire former advisor would survive.

The shocking exchange between the two most powerful men intensified, as Musk said, “Without me, Trump would have lost the election." Trump accused Musk of betrayal and threatened to cut Musk’s government contracts.

Musk even shared a post on social media calling for Trump’s impeachment and skewered the president’s signature tariffs, predicting a recession this year.

On Sunday, Trump dismissed tech mogul Elon Musk, saying he is not thinking about his once-close advisor after the public fallout and wished him well. “I’ve been so busy working on China, working on Russia, working on Iran, working on so many things. I’m not thinking about Elon. I just wish him well," Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One.

In a series of media appearances, the US president made it clear that he had no intention of speaking to Elon Musk anytime soon. In a separate interview with ABC News, the US President bluntly called Elon Musk “a man who has lost his mind," signalling no thaw in the escalating clash between the two.

Republican lawmakers and lawmakers and conservative figures are urging both powerful men to end their feud, while former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon urged Trump to start a federal investigation into Musk’s companies and deport him.
