Nifty falls 100 points off highs to turn negative, at day's low

Sensex Today | Stock Market LIVE Updates: After trying to hold onto the gains, it has stumbled from the highs, falling into negative territory. The indices have failed to make gains. The bulls trade further into the second half of this weekly expiry session with a negative bias. The indices are trading higher after making four consecutive sessions of gains.

The Nifty is inching towards the 24,500 mark and is slightly volatile. The Sensex is also moving on a similar terrain, moving around 78,600, with minor gains.

The Nifty 50 index is up 570 points during this four-day winning streak. That will be put to the test today as it is the weekly expiry session of the Nifty contracts.

The Nifty has closed above 24,000 in all four sessions of this winning streak, making it a firm base for the bulls.

The index is now 50 points away from the May 7 high of 24,482, which will be the first level to track, followed by 24,500. After a two-day break, the Nifty Bank resumed its upmove, but 58,500 remains a barrier. The index remains in the broad 57,500 - 58,500 range.

The stock to watch though, will be HDFC Bank, as shares of India's largest private lender have recovered nearly all the losses made since former Chairman Atanu Chakraborty's exit.
