Sensex Today | Stock Market Live Updates: Today is the monthly expiry of all NSE contracts. The Nifty 50 is nearly at the same levels at which it closed the September series as of Monday. The index snapped a four-day losing streak on Monday and continued with Friday's trend of a steep initial fall, followed by a sharper recovery.
However, some buying from lower levels in Midcaps and Smallcaps is something that will give bulls greater comfort. Today's session will bring with itself its fair share of volatility with the VIX continuing to remain at elevated levels. For the Nifty, 22,800 is the level to watch on the upside, as a sustained move above that could take the index back towards the 23,000 mark.

The index remains below 54,500, which it needs to cross and sustain for a move back to 55,000, while 53,800 - 53,700 levels on the downside should act as a support. Over 50 companies report results today, including auto majors Bajaj Auto and Maruti Suzuki. Also watch for defence stocks, Paytm and more. Oil remains around $115 a barrel.
