Quentin Griffiths, the co-founder of online fashion retailer Asos, has died after falling from a high-rise apartment balcony in Thailand, Daily Mail reported, citing reports.
The 58-year-old millionaire is said to have mysteriously plunged from the 17th floor of the apartment in Pattaya. His body was found on the ground below his balcony, said the report.
Investigators revealed there were no signs of a disturbance inside the apartment. However, they have not ruled out the possibility of ‘foul play’. The exact cause of death will be determined after a post-mortem examination.
The tragedy follows a dispute with Griffiths’ Thai ex-wife, who faces an allegation of stealing £500,000 from a company they operated together. Last year, the billionaire was grilled by investigators after she alleged that he had forged documents to sell land and shares in the business without her knowledge, reported Daily Mail.
Griffith, on the other hand, denied the allegations. The investigation was underway at the time of his death, the report suggested.
‘A REAL MYSTERY’
A source close to the family told The Sun, “It’s a real mystery", adding, “The phrase ‘suspicious circumstances’ has been used but we just don’t know yet."
WHO WAS QUENTIN GRIFFITHS?
Quentin Griffith assisted in the launching of Asos in 2000 alongside Nick Robertson and Andrew Regan, a company which later grew into a £3billion global retailer.
Princess of Wales and Michelle Obama are among those to have worn its own-label designs.
After four years, he stepped down as marketing director and later made £15million from share sales in 2010. In 2013, Griffiths received another stock windfall.
Father of three, he moved to Thailand in 2007. After divorcing his first wife, he married a Thai woman. The couple had a son and a daughter.
However, they separated several years back.
