Russian President Vladimir Putin has informed US President Donald Trump that Moscow will not abandon its objectives in Ukraine, while also committing to continue negotiations on the conflict, the Kremlin announced on Thursday following a call between the leaders.
“Our president stated that Russia will achieve the goals it has set, which address the root causes of the current situation," Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov conveyed to reporters. “Russia will not forgo these objectives."
“He also mentioned the Russian side’s readiness to continue the negotiation process," Ushakov added, noting that the call lasted almost an hour.
During the conversation with Trump, Putin emphasised that conflicts involving Iran and other issues in the Middle East should be resolved diplomatically.
“From the Russian side, the significance of resolving all disputed issues, disagreements, and conflicts exclusively through political and diplomatic means was stressed," Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov relayed to reporters after the call.
