A passenger plane with nearly 50 people onboard went missing in Russia’s far east on Thursday. According to Interfax and SHOT news outlets, the missing aircraft was an An-24 passenger plane.

The plane was operated by the Angara airline and was headed for the town of Tynda in the Amur region bordering China.

It was believed to be a few kilometres away from its destination when it lost contact with the air traffic controllers, it was known.
