Pakistan And Afghanistan War News Today Live Updates: Amid airstrikes and cross-border attacks, Pakistan has declared an “open war” with Afghanistan’s Taliban government, carrying out airstrikes in Kabul and two other Afghan provinces early on Friday.

This came hours after Afghanistan unleashed a cross-border attack on Pakistan in a dramatic escalation of violence between the two neighbours.

Announcing the shift in posture, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif wrote on X, “Our patience has reached its limit. Now it is open war between you and us.”

The declaration came amid intensifying hostilities that have pushed relations between Islamabad and Kabul to one of their lowest points in recent years.

JETS HEARD OVER KABUL, KANDHAR 

AFP reported that jets were heard over Kabul and Kandahar, with journalists on the ground hearing multiple loud explosions followed by gunfire. Afghan Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed the Pakistani strikes. He added there were no casualties.

Afghanistan stated its military launched an attack across the border into Pakistan late on Thursday in retaliation for deadly Pakistani airstrikes on Afghan border areas Sunday.

They claimed to have had captured more than a dozen Pakistani Army posts during the attack.
